Many studies suggest that encouraging a love of reading has an important role to play in promoting learning both in childhood and in adult life. In an effort to promote lifelong learning and intellectual wellbeing, our library offers a handful of programming opportunities to highlight and celebrate leisure reading, and encourage others to join a community of readers. By managing multiple free little libraries on campus, hosting a much-beloved Valentine’s Day Blind Date-with-a-Book event, and providing a robust Book Reviews program, we extend our outreach efforts to readers across campus and in our community. These programs have also strengthened our collaborations with community partners, and enhanced our use of NCLIVE resources, such as NoveList. Join librarians from Wake Forest University as we describe our successful literacy programs and share models you can replicate at your own library.
