One of the ways academic libraries should prioritize information literacy is by increasing educational best practices and pedagogy. Organizations should acknowledge potential instructional disparities staff may have in training and offer opportunities to build a cohesive program by boosting the skills of involved librarians. At UNCP, we have identified three needs within our instruction program, including standardization of curriculum, online presence, and efficient communication between librarians, faculty, and students. We have developed three corresponding objectives that we hope to attain by the end of the year: implementing microlearning, increasing Canvas familiarity, and developing staff confidence and collaboration. In pursuit of these objectives, we plan to hold professional development workshops utilizing cross-campus collaboration, designate and organize an online collaborative space for librarians, and initiate instructional meetings for input, communication, and conversation.
